카린 티드베크는 스웨덴 말뫼에 거주하며 프리랜서 작가이자 번역가로 활동하고 있다. 스웨덴어와 영어로 사변 소설을 쓴다. 2010년에 스웨덴어 단편 소설집 『아르비드 페콘은 누구인가? Vem är Arvid Pekon?』을 발표하며 작품 활동을 시작했다. 2012년 직접 번역한 영어 데뷔작 『자간나트 Jagannath』로 크로포드 상을 수상했으며, 월드 판타지 어워드 최종 후보에도 올랐다. 두 번째 자체 영역서 『아마트카 Amatka』는 2018년 로커스상과 유토피아상의 최종 후보작으로 선정되었다. 2021년 2월 출간된 작가의 두 번째 소설 『기억극장 The Memory of Theater』는 뉴욕 타임스가 선정한 올해 최고의 Sci-fi 및 판타지 도서 목록에 올랐다. 또한 화이트 울프 스토리 게임과 호러 RPG 콜 오브 크툴루 어드벤처 등 인터랙티브 픽션도 집필하고 있다. 여가 시간에는 인터랙티브 스토리텔링, 히스토리컬 펜싱, 미스터리 현상에 전념하고 있다.
Karin Tidbeck lives and works in Malmö as a freelance writer and translator, and writes speculative fiction in Swedish and English. They debuted in 2010 with the Swedish short story collection Vem är Arvid Pekon?. Their self-translated English debut, the 2012 collection Jagannath, received the Crawford Award and was shortlisted for the World Fantasy Award. Their 2017 novel Amatka, also self-translated from Swedish, was shortlisted for the Locus Award and the Prix Utopiales in 2018. A second novel, The Memory Theater, came out in February 2021 and was listed among The New York Times’ best science fiction and fantasy books of the year. Tidbeck also writes interactive fiction, including a story game for White Wolf and an adventure for the horror RPG Call of Cthulhu. They dedicate their free time to interactive storytelling, historical fencing and forteana.
