비극은 역사적인 동시에 개인적이라는 말이 있듯이, 우리는 문학 작품 속에서 역사의 거센 파도를 온몸으로 맞으며 고단한 삶을 살아내는 인물을 만나곤 합니다. 그 마주침에서 독자는 삶의 굴곡마다 새겨진 강인함과 사랑을 발견합니다. 그렇게 문학은 자꾸만 넘어지는 우리를 끝끝내 일으켜 세웁니다. 현대사의 소용돌이를 뚫고 살아가는 개인의 역사를 노래하는 탁월한 이야기꾼, 한국의 정지아와 중국의 위화 작가가 언어의 다리를 건너 마주합니다.

Just as tragedy can describe both the historical and the personal, in literary work we encounter characters whose lives are made hard riding on the strong waves of history. Through these meetings, readers discover the strength and love formed from life’s twists and turns. Literature is always there to pick us up when we fall down. Join two magnificent storytellers who sing about the personal histories of lives overcoming the whirlwind of modern history, Korean author Jeong Ji A and Chinese Author Yu Hua, as they cross over the bridge of language and meet.
