Uthis Haemamool Novelist Thailand
Uthis Haemamool, born in 1975 in Saraburi Province, Thailand and received his Bachelor of Fine Arts (Faculty of Painting, Sculpture and Graphic Arts) from Silpakorn University in Bangkok. His skills and interests range across various artistic disciplines, including visual arts, literature, cinema, and music. Between 2001 and 2009 he worked professionally as a disc jockey, short film director, art director, and columnist for Movie Time magazine. Khun Uthis became widely known for his third novel, The Brotherhood of Kaeng Khoi which won the Seven Book Awards competition and the S.E.A. Write Award in 2009. In 2009 CNNgo rated him as one of the people who mattered most in Thailand. Following this success, the Japan Foundation selected Uthis for the 19th Takeshi Kaiko Memorial Asian Writers Lecture Series Scholarship Award, to give lectures in four major cities in Japan. Khun Uthis has written four novels, two collections of short stories, and two collections of movie and literary criticism. He currently resides in Bangkok and writes continuously.
