Jung Chan Novelist South Korea
Jung Chan was born in Busan in 1953 and majored in Korean Language Education at Seoul National University. He started his literary career with the novella, “The Tower of Words”, which appeared in the magazine The World of Language. He has authored several story collections, including The River of Memory, Perfect Soul, Cozy Path, Death in Venice, White and Round Moon, and Two Lifetimes, as well as the novels The Evening of the World, Golden Ladder, Under the Broom Tree, The Soul of a Shadow, Wilderness, and Pilate’s Jesus. He was the recipient of the 26th Dong-in Literary Award in 1995 for “A Song of Sorrow”, the 16th Dong-seo Literary Award in 2003 for Death in Venice and the Art of the Year Award from Arts Council Korea in 2006 for White and Round Moon.
