Pilar Quintana is the author of five novels and a short story collection. In 2007, she was selected by the Hay Festival as one of the 39 most outstanding Latin American writers under 39. She received in Spain La Mar de Letras Literary Award for her novel Coleccionistas de polvos raros.
She attended the International Writing Program at the University of Iowa as a writer-in-residence and the International Writers’ Workshop at Hong Kong Baptist University as a visiting writer. With her novel La perra (The Bitch), translated into more than twenty languages, she was longlisted to the Dublin Literary Award, she was a finalist for Premio Nacional de Novela in Colombia and the National Book Award in the United States, and she won Premio Biblioteca de Narrativa Colombiana, a PEN Translates Award and the LiBeraturpreis in Germany.
Her latest novel Los abismos won Premio Alfaguara de Novela in 2021 and it is being translated into several languages. She is the editor-in-chief of Colombian Women Writers Library, a project of the Ministry of Culture to promote women’s writing.
