Baek Mu-san Poet South Korea
Baek Mu-san was born in 1955 in Yeongcheon, Gyeongsangbuk-do. He worked as a laborer at a large company before launching his literary career by publishing the poem “Hell Boat” in Minjungsi journal in 1984. He is one of the leading labor poets of the 1980s alongside Park Nohae. His poetry collections include Workers of the World, Rising on Mapo Bay’s Dawn, The Time of Humans, and The Path Belongs to the Field. He is the recipient of the Isan Literature Prize, Manhae Prize for Literature, Im-hwa Literary Award, Oh Jang-hwan Literary Award, and Daesan Literary Award.
