In 2004, Kim Bo-Young won the inaugural Korean Science & Technology Creative Writing Award with her first published novella. She then went on to win the annual South Korean SF Novel Award twice, for her novel The Seven Executioners and again for her novella, How Alike Are We. Her published works include An Evolutionary Myth, How Alike Are We, The Fifth Sense, The Stella Odyssey Trilogy, A Plagued Sea, and Holier than Heaven. Among her works in English translation. “On the Origin of Species and Other Stories” was long-listed for the 2021 National Book Award for Translated Literature, and “Whale Snows Down” was short-listed for the Science Fiction and Fantasy Rosetta Awards.
