[Writers in Conversation] Because I Can’t Explain Myself
Literature is the most intimate form of speech. The word “I” is always a topic, but in a work of literature the “I” is never just the self. The overlap and disagreement of the meaning of this “I” is one of the difficulties and pleasures of literature. Along with writers who risk endless misunderstanding by carrying out this intimate form of speaking we call literature, this talk will explore the pleasures and difficulties of creation that begins with the “I.”
